KEEPING YOUR FAMILY

HOME IN THE FAMILY

You’ve spent a lifetime building your home, your savings, and your future. The last thing you want is to see those hard-earned assets lost to care fees, financial problems, remarriage complications, or decisions outside your control.

Iron Horse Legacy helps riders and families put the right protection in place so your wishes are respected and your assets stay where they belong.

Powered by Trafalgar Estate Planning, we combine over 35 years of estate planning and financial expertise to offer straightforward advice without the jargon or pressure.

A Property Protection Trust (PPT) is an enhanced Will designed to help protect your share of a jointly owned property after death.

In simple terms, it helps ensure that your share of the family home is protected for your chosen beneficiaries rather than becoming vulnerable to outside interference later down the line.

This can help provide protection against:

  • Care home fee assessments

  • Remarriage complications

  • Financial difficulties

  • Third-party claims

  • Assets being redirected away from your family

It gives joint owners greater control over what happens to their share of the property while still ensuring the surviving partner remains secure.

KEEP YOUR SHARE

PROTECTED

If your partner remarries, rewrites their Will, or gifts assets elsewhere in the future, your protected share remains ringfenced for your chosen beneficiaries.

REDUCE RISK

FROM CARE FEES

If the surviving owner later requires residential care, the protected share of the property may not form part of future care fee assessments.

STAY IN CONTROL

Property Protection Trusts offer flexibility while helping ensure your wishes remain respected long after you’re gone.

PROTECT THE

FAMILY LEGACY

The goal is simple:
keep your home, your assets, and your legacy in the family you built them for.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR

THE SURVIVING PARTNER?

Putting protection in place does not mean the surviving partner loses security or control.

In most cases:

  • They retain the right to live in the property for the rest of their life

  • They cannot be removed from the home by trustees

  • They can choose to sell the property and move elsewhere if needed

  • The Trust is normally managed jointly with trusted family members or chosen trustees

This structure is designed to create balance:
protecting the long-term legacy while ensuring the surviving partner remains fully supported.
