Don't Let the State Claim Your Home: The Property Protection Trust

Who Gets the House When You're Gone?

Most couples assume their house automatically passes safely to their kids, but the legal system has major blind spots. If the surviving partner ends up in a care home, or remarries after you're gone, the family home can easily be snatched away from your children.

A Property Protection Trust (PPT) puts a legal padlock on your share of the property, ensuring your legacy stays exactly where you intended.

The Breakdown: How It Protects the Pack

  1. Bulletproof Against Care Fees: When the first partner passes, their 50% share of the house is locked in trust. If the survivor ever needs a care home, the council can only touch their half—your half is completely off-limits.

  2. Protection Against Remarriage: If your partner remarries later, a standard Will can easily be overwritten. A PPT guarantees that your share of the estate is legally earmarked for your kids, no matter what happens down the road.

  3. Total Peace of Mind for the Survivor: Your partner stays completely in control. They have the absolute right to live in the house for life, or even sell it and move—but your half of the money remains protected for the next generation.
